Face to Face with 4 Presidentiables

(AIM Conference Center, Oct 6 8am -12noon)

With Noynoy Aquino
With Manny Villar
With Chiz Escudero With Gibo Teodoro

I was fortunate to get close, personal and face to face with the 4 Presidentiables this morning inside the holding room beside the main SGV hall of the AIM Conference Center.

One by one Gibo, Chiz, Manny and Noynoy entered the holding room separately at different times while waiting to be called to the forum with 100+local government officials.

I was the guest relation officer of the sponsors: Galing Pook, Institute for Popular Democracy, Ateneo School of Government, Synergeia and Local Government Support Program in ARMM.  I was tasked to lead them to the holding room and talk to them while waiting for their turn to go to the main hall.

Here are my impressions of the 4: (After our small talks and hearing the 4 respond to the questions asked by local leaders on issues like the use of calamity funds, peace in Mindanao, pork barrel, IRA share of LGUs and charter change):

Noynoy, 49: lengthy but conversational always emphasizing that he does not know the solutions to all the problems but is willing to listen and learn

Manny, 59: calculating, calibrating but exudes confidence that he has the leadership potential to turn the country around

Gibo, 44: charming, articulate, clear and sure of what he wants to do regardless of whether we agree with him or not

Chiz, 40:  sharp, crisp and direct to the point, expressing popular stands on critical issues

I think NoyNoy won't become a good PRESIDENT. Have you already forgotten the Hacienda Luisita Massacre. We were told that those guys were members of the NPA but they were not, in fact, they were the "MAGSASAKA" of the Aquino Family. During the Presidency of the late Cory Aquino, CARP was implemented throughout the country but sadly Hacienda Luisita did not implement CARP so the MAGSASAKA went uprising which turn into their tragic death.

It's already January, barely four months to go before the elections, and up until now I do not have a "President" yet. The "sharp-crisp-and-direct-to-the-point-expressing-popular-stands-on-critical-issues" guy is out of the list. There are other candidates who speak well like Sen. Gordon. There are those who are running to push for "pagbabago" on moral grounds. It's really hard to make a choice, especially if what is at stake is another 6 years of my life as well as the future of my nephews and nieces.... Hay! So help me God!
